In at the buzzer!
Wow I almost missed today's blog post! Let me say Its been an interesting day for me technology wise. I know a couple of you know that I'm trying to go without a traditional pc and only use my iPad and smartphone for everything. This experiment took a turn for the worse this morning when I woke up and my Droid X was dead. After trying various methods to bring it back I finally called Verizon's customer no service line. To my surprise I didn't have to wait very long and was told that my phone was under warranty and they could send a certified pre owned phone replacement to me. Well this phone has been a dog since I got it with me having to head to the store every couple of months to get it worked on. So after 3 phone calls and a trip to the store I bullied my way into an early upgrade offer. I'm think iPhone 4 since it will play nice with my iPad and then they will have the same apps etc making comparability much more simple. This is a big step for me. Pre iPad I was a BIG pc advocate due to it being a more open platform, but after getting the iPad and using an item that "just works" I'm really changing my toon. What about you all? Mac or Pc?

A pictures worth a 1000 words
I spent most of yesterday trying to organize all of my online photos. I did a brief stint with flickr a couple years ago but this time around after looking back and flickr and comparing it to other services I have went with picasa. The three things that brought me to choose picasa over flickr were picasa's integration with the rest of my google services, the second was cost. Initially I can store 20gb worth of pictures for $5.00 annually and if I need more storage the cost for the increase was very reasonable. Flickrs free account restriction to the last 200 images or $25.00 annual cost of the flickr pro seemed a bit excessive/restrictive to me. I will concede that if I had a very large collection the flickr pro account would be the smarter option. The last thing that brought me to choosing picasa was the piknik integration with picasa. Piknik is an online photo editing tool. I found it easy to use and it did a very good job of doing the simple tasks like removing red eye or sharpening up some blurry areas etc. Links for the families public photos can be found on my Facebook page.

Finding John
So its day 2 of my quest to catalogue my family and I have discovered ancestry.com. Wow what a resource. Right now I'm using my free trial to locate and fill in all the missing links. I've found birth records death records census data, even got hits off other people's family trees that apply to mine. It's been a lot of fun almost like playing a video game I've found myself trying to get to the next level by making my tree that much deeper. The website is very easy to use and I love is integration with the iPad app. So far I have stuck to my exclusive use of the iPad as my only computing platform. Its been a little tedious from time to time but I have found that I can find apps or adapt myself to complete just about any task I set my mind to as long as that task doesn't involve flash... I could really just stab somebody for that fail but thankfully it doesn't pop up very often.

Been awhile
I know it's been along while since I've blogged about anything I guess it's because it's always been hard for me to get into the habit of writing things down even important ones. But I realized the other day that if I don't do something soon when I'm old and feeble and my memory is gone I won't have anything to go from when I want to bore people with the stories from my youth. I was going to abandon this blog and start something on wordpress but after careful consideration I have decided to stay here since this is tied into all of my google stuff and would be a much more seamless fit then adding yet another site to the list, besid google will own the world someday anyways. I'm currently out of work and was talking to Jodi the other day and she has been encouraging me to find something's to do with my day instead of making sure the couch doesn't float away, I've decided that I will take this extra time to start recording our life together so that we and the children will have something besides our failing memories and blank looks to share with future generations of Millards.

Halloween
I can't really go into detail on the subject but for whatever reason I really don't like Halloween.
